For decades the Jeep brand has been synonymous with off-roading adventures, 4×4 technology, and, let’s be honest, generally just looking cool. What started as a WWII military vehicle developed into an iconic, best-selling SUV that’s been the go-to for drivers who frequently take their journeys off the pavement. With an incredible lineup of all-terrain SUVs and crossovers, Jeep has managed to adapt and refine itself over the last eight decades while staying true to its legendary roots.
Owning a Jeep is entirely different from owning other makes and models on the road because Jeep owners are part of a community and culture that drivers of other brands just don’t experience. Just take one out for a spin on the streets of Altus and you’ll feel the love as other Jeep owners acknowledge you with a friendly Jeep wave! Whether you’re eager to get behind the wheel of your very own brand-new Wrangler or a dependable used Cherokee, Johnny Robert Motors is here to give you the low down on some of Jeep’s best-selling models!
Jeep Wrangler
The Wrangler is Jeep’s iconic body-on-frame SUV and is the most off-road capable in the Jeep lineup. It’s one of the few remaining four-wheel-drive vehicles with solid front and rear axles, known among Jeep enthusiasts for their durability, strength, and articulation. The Wrangler also has one of the best resale values in its class (Compact SUV Crossover) and was named one of the Top 10 Cars Overall by Kelley Blue Book.
Jeep Grand Cherokee
The Grand Cherokee is Jeep’s midsize crossover SUV and remains the best-selling model out of Jeep’s lineup. Currently, it is available with either a V6 or V8 engine and either 4WD or FWD, with a plug-in hybrid option arriving later this season. Unlike its siblings, the Wrangler, Gladiator, and Wagoneer, the Grand Cherokee uses a unibody crossover platform. However, once equipped correctly in Trail Rated form, it’s considered one formidable off-roader.
Jeep Wagoneer
The Wagoneer is often considered the first-ever “luxury SUV.” It’s known for being engineered with the first independent front suspension and automatic transmission in any 4X4 vehicle, the first overhead-cam six-cylinder truck engine, and the first automatic full-time 4WD system. With three-row seating, the super-lux Grand Wagoneer trim is designed to compete with the Cadillac Escalade. Additionally, the Wagoneer is the most upscale on the inside as well, boasting numerous screens, tech, and premium finishes, plus a McIntosh audio system. These vehicles are so premium they don’t even carry any Jeep branding on them – and we thought only Prince could pull off branding that bold!
Jeep Gladiator
The Jeep Gladiator is Jeep’s Wrangler-based midsize pickup and debuted as a new vehicle for the 2020 model year. Based on the same platform as the Wrangler JL, the Gladiator is Jeep’s first pickup truck since the Comanche was discontinued in 1992. It also happens to be the last remaining American pickup truck available with a manual transmission. With a maximum towing capacity of 7650 lbs., the Gladiator lets you stay prepared for any off-roading adventure with the added bonus of an open-air truck bed.
